In September 1620, the Mayflower left England carrying 102 passengers. After about two months at sea it reached Cape Cod, and the settlers founded Plymouth Colony on land long home to the Wampanoag people. About half the settlers died that first winter. In 1621 the Wampanoag leader Massasoit made an alliance with the colonists, and the two groups shared a harvest feast that fall.
This crossword covers the story of Plymouth: the MAYFLOWER VOYAGE, the SEPARATIST settlers, the Mayflower COMPACT, Governor BRADFORD, and the WAMPANOAG people, including MASSASOIT and TISQUANTUM.
Use this crossword in November alongside a reading about the Wampanoag perspective. Ask students how the story changes when told from each side, and why both matter.
