Build Custom Reading Worksheets on Gridl: Drag, Drop, and Print

We just shipped a major update to the worksheet builder on Gridl. You can now build a reading comprehension worksheet from scratch, without needing to generate anything with AI first. Just drag a question type onto the page and start filling it in.

What's New

Drag-and-drop question builder. The left sidebar shows three question types: fill in the blank, true/false, and multiple choice. Click any of them to add a question at the end, or drag them directly onto the worksheet to place them exactly where you want. You can reorder questions by dragging within the sheet.

No generation required. The old flow required you to enter a topic and let AI build the worksheet before you could edit anything. Now the editor is open the moment you land on the page. Start with a blank sheet and build something fully custom, or generate a passage with AI and then customize the questions on top of it.

Background images and colors. You can now add a background color or pattern to your worksheet, just like you can with crosswords and word searches on Gridl. Pro subscribers can also upload their own background image: a classroom photo, a seasonal illustration, or anything that fits the theme of your worksheet.

Save to a folder. Pro subscribers can now save worksheets directly into a folder, keeping everything organized alongside your crosswords, word searches, and other puzzles.

AI generation is now clearly a Pro feature. If you want to auto-generate a reading passage from a topic, that is available with Gridl Pro. Free users can still build fully custom worksheets by hand.

How to Use It

1. Go to /worksheet
2. Drag a question type from the left sidebar onto the worksheet area, or click to add at the end
3. Fill in your question text and the correct answer
4. Add a reading passage by clicking Edit in the passage section
5. Customize the title, add a background color or pattern, then print or save

The sheet is print-ready from the start. Name and date fields are included at the top automatically.

Available on Free and Pro

The drag-and-drop builder, all three question types, print-to-PDF, and sharing are available on both Free and Pro plans. Pro adds AI generation from a topic, custom background images, and folder organization.
