Introducing Lesson Planner: One Word List, Three Activities
Teachers juggle a lot. Planning vocabulary activities shouldn't take more time than the lesson itself. That's why we built the Lesson Planner, a new Pro feature that turns a single word list into a crossword puzzle, a word search, and a set of flash cards, all in about 10 seconds.
How It Works
- Go to the Lesson Planner page (or pick it from the Build page).
- Give your lesson a title and add vocabulary words. You can type them one at a time, paste a comma-separated list, or upload a CSV file.
- Optionally add definitions for each word. If you skip this step, AI fills them in automatically.
- Click Generate with AI. In a few seconds you'll have all three activities ready.
That's it. Each puzzle is saved to your account with a shareable link you can send to students or paste into Google Classroom, Canvas, or any LMS.
What Gets Generated
Crossword with AI-written clues. The clues are concise and quiz-style, designed to test whether students actually know the vocabulary rather than just recognize it.
Word Search with all your words hidden in a letter grid. Students drag to highlight words. Great as a warm-up or early finisher activity.
Flash Cards with definitions pulled from AI (or your own if you provided them). Students flip through the deck to study.
All three puzzles use the same word list, so they reinforce each other. A student might learn a word from the flash cards, recognize it in the word search, and then prove they understand it through the crossword clue.
Built for Reuse
Every lesson plan you create is saved to your account. When you return to the Lesson Planner page, you'll see all your previous plans with quick links to each activity. No need to regenerate anything.
You can also delete a lesson plan when you're done with it. Deleting removes the plan and all three associated puzzles in one step.
CSV Upload for Bulk Words
If you already have a vocabulary list in a spreadsheet, export it as a CSV and upload it directly. The planner supports two formats:
- Words only: one word per line, or comma-separated on a single line.
- Word and definition pairs: each line formatted as
WORD,definition. The planner will detect the format automatically and pre-fill flash card definitions for you.
A Pro Feature
The Lesson Planner is available to Pro subscribers for $15/year. That also includes unlimited puzzle saves, AI-generated clues on all puzzles, access codes for student tracking, and everything else that comes with Pro.
If you're not sure yet, try building a free crossword or word search first to see how it works. The Lesson Planner just bundles everything together into one streamlined flow.
