Introducing Quizl: Live Multiplayer Quiz Games on Gridl
Gridl just got a whole lot more competitive. Today we're launching Quizl, a live multiplayer quiz game you can host right from your browser. Create a set of questions, share a game code with your class or friends, and watch them race to answer in real time.
How It Works
- Create a question set. Head to /quizl and build a set of multiple choice questions. Give each question a correct answer and a few wrong answers.
- Host a game. Click "Host" on any question set. You'll get a 5-character game code to share.
- Players join. Players go to /quizl/play, enter the code and a nickname, and they're in the lobby.
- Play. Hit start, and questions appear on every screen simultaneously. Players pick their answer before time runs out.
- See results. After each question, everyone sees the correct answer, the leaderboard, and their rank.
No apps to install, no accounts required for players. Just a code and a browser.
Speed and Streaks
Quizl rewards both accuracy and speed. Every correct answer earns base points, with a bonus that scales based on how fast you answered. Get multiple questions right in a row and you'll build a streak multiplier for even more points. One wrong answer resets your streak, so the pressure stays on.
Built for the Classroom
If you already use Gridl for crosswords, word searches, or flash cards, Quizl fits right in. You can turn any vocabulary list or study material into a competitive quiz in minutes.
A few ways teachers are already using it:
- Warm-up reviews. Start class with a 5-question quiz on yesterday's material.
- Test prep. Build a larger set and run through it as a class the day before an exam.
- Team competitions. Split the class into groups and have one player per team answer on a shared device.
What the Host Sees
The host screen is designed for projecting in a classroom or sharing on a video call. It shows the current question and answer choices in large, color-coded blocks, a live count of how many players have answered, and a full leaderboard after each question.
