Hide the Reveal Answers Button on Your Puzzles
When you share a puzzle from Gridl, the play page has always included a "Reveal answers" button. It is a handy escape hatch for someone solving on their own, but it gets in the way when you are using a puzzle in a classroom, an event, or a competition.
Pro users can now turn it off, one puzzle at a time, on crosswords, word searches, and word scrambles.
How It Works
- Save your puzzle
- In the editor, find the new Hide "Reveal answers" button toggle, just below the Access Code section
- Flip it on
That is it. Anyone visiting the share link will no longer see the Reveal button at all. They can still solve the puzzle in the browser, just without the option to peek at the answer key.
You can toggle it back off any time, or change it per puzzle. Each puzzle keeps its own setting, so you can leave the button on for casual sharing and hide it for the puzzles you use in class.
When It Helps
- Classroom solving sessions where you want students to work through clues, not check answers
- Trivia nights or party games where the puzzle is part of a competition
- Bookable resources for camps, after-school programs, or take-home packets
- Practice tests where you want learners to commit before checking
If you also want to gate the puzzle behind a code so only specific people can play, pair this with the existing Access Code feature in the same panel.
Free or Pro?
The toggle is a Pro feature. Free users see it in the editor, but the option is locked with an upgrade prompt. If you have not subscribed yet, upgrade for $15 a year to unlock this and the rest of Gridl's Pro features: unlimited puzzles, folders, no watermark on prints, clip art, AI-generated clues, and more.
Try it out on a crossword, a word search, or a word scramble.
